What happened?
Sometimes you work so hard, and you look back and you realize that
your week was a complete blur.
Sometimes, we don't really plan for P-Days... And so here we are
frantically writing emails. But this is Matsuzaki Shimai's last
transfer, and no way can we slow down. We are just seeing way too many
miracles!!
So sometimes I reread the past emails I've sent. And most of the time
I'm like, "Wow, my grammar is horrendous!!" But then I read it and I'm
like, "Wow, did I forget to quote an Apostle when I wrote that?
Because that was poetic!" The chances are I forgot the quote, but
let's pretend that I'm very deep and humorous.
This past week's theme was faith! I thought about faith and how it
really is the power that comes from believing. When we believe in
ourselves, we develop this power to do the impossible. We don't see
ourselves on a plateau. We see ourselves with an eternal perspective.
And then we WORK to achieve it! Just imagining it won't do anything!
We have to set our goals and then change (aka repent) to achieve them.
I love it!
And that's not all. Faith in ourselves isn't enough, because we are
human! We are frail, and make mistakes, and just simply cannot do
anything on our own. We must have faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. He
is not only the only perfect being to have walked among men, He is
also our older brother who's cheering us on. I've secretly always
wanted an older brother. It seemed so cool to me! Someone who was
always looking out for me and showing me the way. And so even though I
don't have one in my immediate family, I know that Christ plays that
role for me. He is someone I can perfectly rely upon. He accepts me
for who I am, flaws and all. And He has provided a way for me to
improve through His Atonement. He has given me the greatest gift of
all: The gift of change. I am so grateful for it!!
This week as I celebrated Christ's birth with my friends here in Japan
I was so filled with peace in my soul. I felt no longing to be
anywhere else (Sorry Mom!). I knew that this is where I need to be,
and that God has been very patient as He's waited for me to get this
far.
So now that Christmas is over, it's time to prepare for the New Year!
And with every New Year, we have the chance to reevaluate our lives,
review past goals, and see where we want to go with our lives. Goals
help us to recognize our growth, expand our vision, and exceed our
expectations! I invite each of you to make goals for the New Year that
will help you draw closer to Christ and become the person you want to
be. And remember, "We become who we want to become, by consistently
being the person we want to become everyday." (Richard G. Scott).
You are loved. You are important. And Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ
desire for you to succeed. Have a great week and remember that God
loves you!!
