Merry Christmas!! This year has been so incredible, and it's crazy to realize how much time has passed already.
Christmas in Japan was definitely... Different. Apparently Japanese Christmas is a couple's holiday like Valentine's day. It was definitely a different atmosphere. But they really do try to act like Americans, so they eat KFC and cake. Because isn't that what Americans eat every day of the week? I was slightly offended, but then I just ate the fried chicken and cake and enjoyed myself. :)
Christmas Eve we went to Kichijoji for a mission conference. It was excellent to celebrate Christmas with my Japan family. We sang families can be together forever in Japanese. The crying did not stop. I was kind of an emotional wreck in a fun really healthy way. I just couldn't help but think of the missionaries who talked to Grandma and Grandpa Feist in North Dakota and how they changed our lives, and how I could have that kind of influence here.
Christmas was surprisingly relaxed. My companion has been sick so we stayed in and let her rest up. I studied. And studied. And made some delicious food.
About the food thing: I made two meals this week and they were actually pretty delicous! I'm learning to just throw food in a pan and hope for the best. Also, onions make a meal. They're just so delicious.
We received transfer calls!! I am transferring to Kichijoji! I am so sad to be learving Fujisawa but honestly, Kichijoji and Sister Wells are the two things that could have pulled me away from here. I am excited to start a new adventure and to make some new friends. Also, Kichijoji has a street that is dedicated to crepe restaraunts. Okay, don't mind if I do.
Saying goodbye is hard, but meeting new people is excellent. I am mix of emotions that can't really be described, but I feel great!
New Year's is this week and it's a big deal in Japan. It's exciting to make new goals for ourselves and challenge ourselves to be a little better. This life is our time to prepare to meet God and become like Him. We don't really have time to waste! Let's not be content with mediocrity, but instead strive for excellence. If you want more motivation, please go to your local high school's math classroom and read the motivational posters. They never fail,
I love you all!! Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!!
Love always,
Sister Feist
