It's the most wonderful time, of the year!!
And by most wonderful time, I mean the rainy season!!! Lots of dark
clouds, random downpours, and the humidity. Don't get me started on
the humidity. But you know what's awesome about all this moisture?
EVERYTHING is so green! I didn't know that the earth was so green.
People told me I lived in the desert, but I never fully understood
that until I came to the mountain ranges of Atsugi, Japan. I am so
blessed! Everywhere we go we see beautiful trees, flowers, bushes, you
name a nature thing, and it's beautiful! Whatever, I don't want to
sound too obsessed, but I actually really am.
We got stuck in a lightning storm after grocery shopping the other
day. It was terrifying, exhilarating, and really really wet. I've
never been so wet in my entire life. It was hilarious! We all just
laughed so hard and really enjoyed the time that we had. I love that I
am with companions who are all about enjoying every moment, and there
is no need to remind eachother to look for the rainbows of situations
because we are already enjoying the rain!
I love my ward. Our ward mission leader and bishop are my best
friends. In one meeting we can have a really serious spiritual
discussion and the next we are literally crying from laughing so hard.
There might be a little bit of a language barrier, but I would do
anything for these people. I pray for them and their families and I
love them so much! Also, they are apparently incredibly skilled at
karaoke so we're trying to plan a karaoke event at the church soon. So
fun right?!
My companions are simply lovely individuals. Working so hard to learn
the language, develop courage, and develop good relationships with the
members. They are so much fun and both completely different yet we all
get along just fine. As long as we strive for 100% obedience, we will
find that things will come along just fine in our relationship. As we
strengthen our relationship with God, our relationships with others
fall right into place.
We are working with some incredible people right now. It's amazing how
you can barely know someone, and yet God helps open your heart so that
you come to love them more than you can ever plan to. Adriana is
already at Alma 5, and says she has a testimony that this is Christ's
church on the Earth. She loves the gospel, and she says the only thing
keeping her from being baptized yet is that she feel that she needs to
come to church and receive a deeper conversion. She has such a sincere
heart and real intent that I know that she can receive more answers to
her prayers and make the decision to follow Jesus Christ's example by
being baptized. We set a date with her, but she still seems a little
hesitant. We are hoping to help her really feel gung-ho about it. :)
Then there's the Watanabe sisters. They are adorable. We get the
feeling that their parents don't really play a strong role in their
lives since they are always cooking alone and having us over without
worrying what their parents think. It is such an incredible experience
to spend time with them and set an example for them and help them
learn how to find true joy in their life. The oldest is 19 and she
came to church this Sunday! It was amazing, and everyone loved her!
She is simply incredible.
Life is good. Busy but good. God is helping us, and He has a lot of
patience with me as I strive to serve the best I can. I'm striving to
be a little better every day. I sure need it!
Love always,
Sister Feist
PS: Google Japan radio taiso. See what comes up. My companions do that
for exercise in the morning while I jog around the mini park. It's a
blast.
