What a week. In all honesty, the days here are so long but the weeks fly by! Like, I feel as if it was just yesterday that I was writing home!! But here I am again, trying to find adequate ways to express the incredible experience that is the MTC. We reached our halfway point on the seventh!!! We had a little party in the residence and ate lots of food and talked about life in general. It was nice to kind of do something relaxing and not in Japanese.
Our investigator Ishikido San has committed to baptism! He has a testimony of Jesus Christ, and says that he knows that this is Christ's church upon the earth! We were inspired to ask him to read 3 Nephi 11 just randomly (and by randomly, I mean the Spirit prompted us to). It is a powerful verse of scriptures and I would really recommend it to anyone who wants to better learn about the Doctrine of Christ. I know he lives, and that he is my redeemer. He teaches me everyday and knows my struggles. I know that it is only through him that we can return to our Heavenly Father.
I'm learning how to really make scripture study more meaningful to me. Most of my life, the scriptures have simply been a commandment, and I haven't found ways to rejoice in them. I have been such an idiot to not treasure them more!! Through the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, we can find the answers to all of life's questions. They were written with our generation in mind, and they teach us so much everyday! I am really bad at memorizing scriptures, so I have begun to make my own topical guide!! I have a mini notebook simply full of scripture references organized by topic. Want to understand the Doctrine of Christ? I would recommend 3 Nephi 31. Prayer? D&C 6,8,9. I seriously get so excited about my organization, it's a little embarrassing!
This week I have really received a confirmation as to why I need to serve the Lord in Japan. It is where he needs me, and he knows that I can do it. Japanese is so much fun, and I am really getting into it. I think I'm even going to purchase a verb book! For fun!
I am really loving gym times. I play volleyball with the elders a lot, and apparently I'm the most competitive person on the court everytime? I'm pretty much an expert at making things more competitve than they should be.
We watched The Testaments on Sunday night. The main characters kiss, and there is a love interest in it. Never has there been a group of people more uncomfortable with kissing than a room of 200 missionaries. Even I blushed when they kissed! What is wrong with me?!
I know this is a short email, but it's getting kind of hard for me to express myself in English. And I'm too lazy to continue. I love you all, and am so grateful for your support!! I love hearing from you all and am so excited for what's happen in your lives!
Remember, The Church is true, the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and Christ is our Savior and Redeemer.
Love always,
Feist Shimai
