This week was full of lots of cancelled appointments, awkward
streeting situations, and some gum choice mishaps. Which is a bummer
right? Wrong! From all of these unexpected detours, I was able to
learn what I will not do the next time. The cancelled appointments
aren't really our fault, so that's not a huge problem. As far as
awkward streeting situations go, I think I've just got to learn how to
play it cool. Not come off too crazy. And really get to the core of
people. Find out what they need in their life, and teach them how the
gospel will fill that need. Because to be completely honest, the
gospel will fill everyone's needs. I am so grateful for that
knowledge. That no matter who we are or where we are in life, the
gospel will help us. And the gum choice mishap... Let's just say that
no matter how delicious apple gum might sound, if the taste only lasts
20 seconds, it's not worth it. :)
Okay, the gum thing, not even that funny now that I think about it.
But I'm keeping it there.
Guys, I have a testimony that every mishap can turn into a miracle if
we are working our hardest and being led by the Spirit. As we are
striving to truly and sincerely invite others to come unto Christ, God
will put people in our path whose hearts are prepared. As we work
together with church members and with other missionaries, we will see
miracles!
This week Iizawa San was baptized. I am honestly just so happy. She is
someone who has been through so many trials in her life, seen so many
disappointments, and yet she has been able to find hope in through the
Atonement of Jesus Christ. She is dedicated to living her life in
harmony with the teachings of our Savior so that she may receive the
promised blessings from Him. She isn't very close to her family right
now, and has so much need for this church family. Right after her
baptism members invited her to SA activities, asked to exchange
numbers, and became friends with her on Facebook. They were all so
excited to welcome her into the family and love her like she's never
been loved before. I am so grateful for the members of this church who
emulate Christ's example by reaching out and loving others. It can make
such a difference to another person.
I was able to go on splits with a couple of different sisters this
week and it was so much fun to work with new people! We had so much
fun almost getting lost, talking to lots of people, and seeing
miracles! Night dendo was a hit once again :) The people on the
streets past 8 at night are so much fun and are usually pretty open to
chatting with Americans. It keeps us busy, and we are having an
amazing time.
This week is looking up to be full of exciting moments and lots more
miracles. Thank you for all of the prayers from home. I can feel them
every day and am strengthened by them. You are all incredible. Thank
you for all you do, and don't forget to make some time for the
important things in life. Never suppress a kind thought. Love others
unconditionally. Take joy in the journey.
Love you all!
